"What's really breathing life back into these treasures, however, are the eateries and shops that draw weekenders. Many of the historic Victorians now house businesses, including the blissful SPA by Diane Loring. East Main Street buzzes with vintage clothing stores, cafes, and wine bars."
Discover Ventura County - 2008
"Located at the historic Victorian Love House, SPA by Diane Loring showcased local artists and infuses a warm communal vibe into its full salon and signature spa services. A spacious couples room is reserved for any two people "who like each other".
Pasadena Magazine - Ventura's Best Bets - October 2007
"When it comes to spas, Ventura offers an ecstasy of choice. One of the best, however, is SPA by Diane Loring, located in a great Victorian building called the Love House. Treatment prices here are more reasonable than what you'll pay in the L.A. area, and the walls here are hung with paintings and photographs by Ventura artists...the Chocolate Sugar Body Scrub is one of the SPA's signature treatments; this mind/body aromatherapy journey ends with glorious massage and hydration that revitalizes skin and senses...the same can be said about vistiting Ventura...a gem on the face of California."
805 Living - September 2007
"Looking for a No-Cal, No-Fat Chocolate Fix? The SPA by Diane Loring in downtown Ventura offers two decadent chocolate treatments. The sensual Chocolate Sugar Body Scrub uses chocolate scented oils and honeyed sugar to exfoliate, smooth, and hydrate your body. Think chocolate is fattening? On the contrary! Try the aromatic Chocolate Contour Body Wrap, which uses antioxidant-rich chocolate clay to tone and firm your skin. The spa is located in the historic Love House, a sprawling mansion built in 1903 by Ada McCoskey, the widow of prominent Ventura physician, J.H. Love. It's the perfect spa setting - and a treat in itself."
Live, Love, Travel - September 2007
Situated just off the main drag, on Figueroa Street, Spa by Diane Loring is located inside the historic Love House, a Victorian-styled masterpiece gracing the town since 1903. Like the building housing 71 Palm Restaurant, the Love House is now a California Historical Landmark.
The Spa offers numerous treatments including deliciously chocolate spa treatments in a divine setting. There is the Chocolate Mineral Buff ($75), which is an hour-long massage with the spas own chocolate aromatherapy oil, which is mixed with sea salts to exfoliate and hydrated the skin. The equally luscious Chocolate Contour Body Wrap ($75) begins with exfoliation. The body is then painted in Chocolate clay and wrapped in hot towels for fifteen minutes, then cleaned and then rubbed with hot chocolate oils for 35 minutes.
My visit included a one-hour deep tissue rub-down performed by Heather, one of the spa's most skilled massage and skin specialist's. The way she kneaded my sore muscles was a work of art. I felt like a slab of dough transformed into an rejuvenated pizza pie, with all the toppings. I felt so great after the massage that i wanted a glass of wine to go with the flow...
Yogi Times - July/August 2006
"Here you will find superb yoga classes in intimate, airy, sunlit rooms, a lengthy menu of massage and bodywork options and a full service hair salon...its also worth noting that the attentive and polite massage therapists at Loring's Love House live up to their establishments name. Their body work is deeply nurturing."

Speaker to address stress and brain aging
March 31, 2010
by Alicia Doyle
Ventura County Star
Camarillo clinical psychologist Priscilla L. Partridge de Garcia, using research that shows the brain can be improved and enhanced as we age, will present “Stress Related Aging of the Brain, Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Memory Loss” on Thursday at the Pierpont Racquet Club in Ventura.
“In the last five to 10 years, the body and brain have become a popular topic,” said Partridge de Garcia, who specializes in treating post-traumatic stress disorder. “In 1996, there was a breakthrough in research showing that right up to the last moment before death we are creating brain cells, negating the belief for the last 30 years that each year as we age, our cells died, never to be re-created.”
Presented by Spa by Diane Loring Inc. as part of an ongoing speaker series, the free presentation is for people of all ages who want to learn how to maintain a healthy brain as well as how to recover brain cells that were lost because of poor nutrition and lack of exercise.

Author will discuss the effects of meditation walks
May 11, 2010
by Alicia Doyle
Ventura County Star
Working full time with a part-time job on the side, Sondra Briggs was searching for peace and serenity in her life when she discovered a simple walk along Port Hueneme Beach could meet her needs.
“Traditional sitting meditation wasn’t for me. It made me antsy,” recalled Briggs of Somis, who lived at Port Hueneme Beach for nearly two decades. “As I walked daily on the beach and allowed the natural beauty there to fill my senses, I found the peace I was looking for. Each day when I returned home, I wrote a few paragraphs in my journal. These entries became the basis for my book.”
Soon after writing “Port Hueneme Beach Walks, My Pathway to Peace,” published in 2008 by Neshama Press, Briggs was approached by friends and neighbors who wanted to come along.
“They asked me to lead them on my path to peace; they requested a schedule for the next walk, so I set a time, and people came,” said Briggs.

Loring spa leaves Love House
(VC Reporter Online 7/16/09)
After five years, Spa by Diane Loring Inc. will be closing the doors this week on its third and most recent location at the Historic Love House in downtown Ventura....
For Loring, the closing of the Love House location represents a conscious, vision-driven move rather than a loss. “As an entrepreneur, I had a vision of creating a headquarters, and doing some restructuring,” she said. “We did it, and that vision is done. This was and will be a positive experience.” The spa still lives at its two other locations, the Pierpont Racquet Club and the Pierpont Inn, where it has been thriving for the past 22 years.
